Stevie Nicks

I am Stevie Nicks… My first introduction to music was listening to the radio in Dominica, I was hearing Dr Hook, Simon and Garfunkel and the Beatles. When I came back to England I started to hear my parents playing reggae and I got in to watching Top of the Tops and my love for music and pop culture. I’ve been gigging since the early 80’s doing pop gigs and then stared doing R&B reggae etc for friends. Started doing the radio in the early 8o’s for a couple of years then gave up for 30yrs until The Rock came knocking.

Miss Meladee

Grew up listening to different genres of music. My favourites being mainly R&B and Reggae, I listened to Radio djs such as, Tony Williams and David Rodigan even Tony Blackburn.

I would sit for hours listening to music singing and writing lyrics, I also did a bit of deejaying for a while nothing to serious and won a competion at a local event.

I had a love for reggae but when Omar released the track. There's nothing like this... I started to see soul rnb music in a different light...as i loved the deep bass-line and this track was on fire. Then started listening to Mary j, Jodeci etc and recording the tracks of the radio and making my own tapes.

The slow songs were deep and meaningful i could just switch of from the world and get lost in the music. I always admired radio presenters especially choice fms Jenny francis.

I was also in a sound system crystal clear..but soon realized playing music at party's and events where not bringing me any satisfaction Muscially. So next step was radio where i could express myself and reach out to a wider audience. Many years later here i am doing what i love the most.

Danny Gee (MVP)

Well let’s start at the beginning; I got in to music, like most, with my dad playing tunes in the house daily - and Sundays were just an extension of the week.

I remember hearing Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Don Williams, John Holt, Gregory Issacs, Percy Sledge and many more it was so diverse. I got more and more in to music once I hit secondary school and coming from Sumner Estate in Peckham the multitude of sounds made it impossible to miss.

I was part of a sound which came from the estate,  and spent many nights constructing boxes with wood that was somehow sourced lol. I always loved reggae music but found myself getting more and more in to soul as it was called then - it didn’t have all the different titles of today.

Luckily I had a big brother and older cousins that were going to all the soul clubs like Royalty, Crackers, WAG, Lyceum so sometimes I was luck enough to tag a long. Even though I was not of age,
the experience left me buzzing for more and spent time travelling to all corners. I was already collecting soul music from school days, often walking home to save the money to go to the record shop and buy my 50p tracks. Over the years it became a bigger passion and I travelled to any shop that had beats from “Bluebirds” to “Wired for sound” where I spent probably more time than at my house on many occasions. MVP is the name of the sound I am apart of and we are a party sound who loves the sound system culture. Me and my brothers from another mother still have a big PA system, which keeps us occupied.

The great thing about music even to today is that it brings people together, and there’s nothing better than sharing good music. I have been blessed to meet many good friends along the way but there’s so many so I wont mention them all - but a big shout goes out to two big influencers that I have lost along the way; R.I.P Tony Watson (Wired for Sound)  & Mykey Simpson (TheRock926.com).

Music has no barriers - it’s for everyone!

Peace

Gee

Da Man from Da Old Skool

"Da Man From Da Ol' Skool" - Let me start in the early 80's..... School friends start a sound system and become quite popular in South London

and by the 90's with the sound system culture fading The Most Valuable Players (MVP) were born.

I was spending a lot of time in NYC and I became addicted to Hip Hop. I incorporated its influences to my performances which led to me DJing up to four nights a week across London and the UK. Of course there are an abundance of stories but.....

This is a little bit about me, learn some more by tuning into one of my uplifting, multi-genre shows called "The Concert".  One Love.

Coach B

My genre is salsa the music is me.

Having been listening for years it was time to express passion, love, and energy to a genre of music that excites evokes and filters through me like a tsunami of flavours.

The world of Latin fever is written in salsa music from way back.

Love it like it hate it but definitely listen to it

Miss Ouch

Claudz ,aka Miss Ouch, is a friendly, approachable individual and has impressively built up a unique and highly respected reputation in the music business amongst promoters, artists and listeners alike both here in the UK and the USA.  She is known publicly as specialising in the genre of Neo Independent Soul; however, it is clear to assess upon listening that she certainly has not pigeon holed herself into one genre. Miss Ouch has been putting consistently timeless podcasts together which have been tailored to cater for her listeners who tend to appreciate her blend of carefully and purposely mixing the ‘old with the new’ which makes her sets immediately relatable. Miss Ouch has a surprisingly edgy and unexpected delivery style consisting of predominately Irregular Bassline Soul, yet sometimes with a Reggae or indeed Rare Groove feel seamlessly blended in. She has played at the Kindred Family Soul, Ledisi & Michon Young concerts courtesy of Soulgigs and Biggs as well as having the pleasure of playing alongside an array of the top Street Sounds in London.

Claudz is also the founder of the popular & independent online platform called ‘The Artist Injection’ which was born in the year 2020 – This has become her predominate activity in music since it started, hence the decision to share her back catalogue on the station since its commencement. The audio from this live show is extracted for the purposes of sharing it with YOU the listeners periodically here at The Rock 926. The genres covered are Slowjams, Irregular Bassline Soul, Refixes and Lovers Rock in order to create a calm ambiance to help you to chill & unwind, yet indulge in new talent and reminisce at the same time.

You can catch Miss Ouch every Tuesday and Thursday night right here on The Rock 926 between the hours of Midnight and 2am GMT.
